Cerebral Palsy Resources in Southwest Michigan
Use the lists below to find cerebral palsy and disability resources in Southwest Michigan. This region includes the cities of Kalamazoo, Portage, Battle Creek, Marshall, Coloma, and others. We encourage residents with cerebral palsy to contact nearby cities and communities for services, programs, and medical facilities that serve their unique needs.
Note: For the sake of concision, the list of special education services provided by different school districts are far from complete. Public schools are required to take specific measures to accommodate students with disabilities, under the federal individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Rehabilitation Act (RA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). For more extensive information about services provided, please be sure to check out your local schools' websites. If you believe your child's school is not complying with disability laws and your child is suffering, it may be worthwhile to consult a disability advocacy nonprofit (see our section on "Support Organizations") or an attorney."
We hope you find this guide to be of use! Please note that we have not personally verified the quality of services provided by each of these organizations; much of the information comes from internet searches. When considering resources for yourself or a loved one, we recommend that you conduct your own research.
If you have a favorite organization that benefits people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, please reach out and let us know! We are always learning about more resources, and will continue to update this guide with new information.
