Helping Families With Birth Injuries Across Michigan and Beyond

Childbirth is a special moment for every family. Each year, over 100,000 babies are born in Michigan – 100,000 different moments for each family to celebrate. Unfortunately, this moment is marked by uncertainty and stress for parents whose baby suffered a birth injury.

When a baby is injured from a mistake during or around the time of birth, that’s considered a birth injury. Recent data from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) shows that 1% of births in Michigan involved a significant birth injury. If your baby suffered a preventable birth injury, a lawsuit can help cover expenses for their care.

A consultation with us is absolutely free, and we charge no fees unless we win your case.

Why should I hire a Michigan birth injury lawyer from ABC Law Centers: Birth Injury Lawyers?

Birth injury cases are complex, and they can take years to litigate. It’s important to choose a lawyer that only practices birth injury cases. Their track record should illustrate their commitment and experience.

Our firm has practiced only birth injury cases since 1997, giving each client the time and focus their case deserves. Our attorneys advocate relentlessly for each family, and have won multiple multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements on their behalf.

In order to get the best possible result for our clients, our attorneys consult with a wide network of leading medical, forensic, economic, and life-care planning experts across the country.

Beyond the legal field, Jesse founded the Reiter HIE Fund to support research on hypoxic-ischemic brain injury. Donations to this fund help support research conducted at the University of Michigan Department of Pediatrics for HIE treatment.

Giving parents peace of mind

Five-star review from Amelia Pank reads: "They helped us secure the funds to make sure our daughter would be taken care of for the rest of her life. They kept us informed every step of the way and were ALWAYS there for a phone call to explain things in terms we understood which was very important."

How long do I have to file a lawsuit?

If you think you have a birth injury case, it’s important to call a lawyer as soon as possible. You must file suit by a specific deadline, called the statute of limitations. In Michigan, you have until your child’s 10th birthday to file a birth injury lawsuit.

Please note that this statute can change. It can even differ depending on specific circumstances, like the type of facility you gave birth in. Contact us to verify your lawsuit and ensure you have time to pursue justice for your child.

Michigan Hospitals and NICUs

If you or a loved one experience a birth injury, then your baby most likely will need special treatment in the NICU – the neonatal intensive care unit. In Michigan, there are 30 NICUs. Depending on the severity of your baby’s injury, they may need around-the-clock intensive care in a high-level IV NICU.

Michigan only has three NICUs classified at level IV, which are listed here with a few level III NICUs:

Unfortunately, medical errors can occur even in NICUs. If you suspect that your baby did not receive proper or timely treatment in the NICU, contact us today for a free, no-obligation consultation. Our Michigan birth injury lawyers will help you uncover the truth of what happened.
