New Jersey Birth Injury Lawyers
ABC Law Centers: Birth Injury Lawyers handles birth injury cases nationwide
New Jersey birth injury attorneys who are here for your family.
A birth injury diagnosis is difficult on your whole family. When something goes wrong at birth, your family must cope with lasting consequences. Birth injuries can include oxygen deprivation, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), trauma, and infections, among other issues. They can lead to lifelong disabilities, such as cerebral palsy (CP) and developmental delays.
It can become scary if the medical staff you trust with your care make mistakes that lead to birth injuries. These mistakes can be due to malpractice or negligent behavior. If you believe that your baby experienced a birth injury in New Jersey, you may be entitled to compensation for future care and expenses that your child may need.
The attorneys and staff at ABC Law Centers: Birth Injury Lawyers are here for you. Tell us your story. Let us help with medical records, treatment provider recommendations, and figuring out what happened at the hospital. There is no fee unless we win your case. - Cerebral palsy
- Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE)
- A high-risk pregnancy
- A delayed emergency c-section

- And other birth injuries
How do I know if I have a medical malpractice case?
Many birth injuries are preventable – and the hospital can be held accountable for failing to prevent these injuries. Whether due to negligence or malpractice, the permanent consequences to your child should not be taken lightly.
New Jersey’s pregnancy care needs improvement. New Jersey ranks high among US states for maternal mortality, and a majority of those deaths are preventable. These red flags do not bode well for birth injury prevention and ensuring families receive the care they need during prenatal care and childbirth. There are standards of care that must be followed.
As a parent, you want to do everything you can to take care of your child. Let us help you ensure your child lives the best life possible through a birth injury lawsuit.
How long do I have to file a lawsuit in New Jersey?
There is a time limit for filing a lawsuit, called a statute of limitations (SOL). If you suspect malpractice occurred during birth, it’s important to call us as soon as possible. Birth injury lawsuits can take years to finish.
In New Jersey, you have 13 years from the date of the injury to file a lawsuit.
NICU Treatment for birth injuries in New Jersey
The NICU, or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, treats babies with birth injuries. The NICU provides supportive services, premature birth care, and breathing assistance.
If a baby is diagnosed with HIE, most providers will use therapeutic hypothermia to treat the baby. Therapeutic hypothermia is also called neonatal cooling. Cooling helps the baby’s brain recover from the injury and minimizes the damage. However, medical staff must treat the baby right away.
If your child has a birth injury like HIE, your child will need to be treated at a Level III or Level IV NICU facility. Level III or Level IV NICUs provide the specialized care that a baby with a birth injury typically needs.
Here is a short list of several hospitals in New Jersey with Level III or IV NICU designations:
