The number of people treated in U.S.hospitals for problems related to medication errors has grown more than 50% in recent years.
For many years, drug companies and medical device makers have been paying doctors to prescribe their drugs or implant their devices in patients.
Medical malpractice lawsuits are the only way for injured patients to receive compensation for their injuries and for doctors and hospitals to be held accountable for their actions, in the hopes that the same errors do not happen to other patients.
